Most software agencies work one way: you pay, they build, you leave with an invoice. That's a perfectly fair deal — it's most of what we do. But it locks out a whole category of people we'd actually love to work with: founders with a genuinely strong idea and the drive to make it real, who simply don't have £40,000 sitting in the bank to commission it. Our funded-build model is built for them.
The idea in one line
For a small number of ideas we truly believe in, we don't just build your product — we invest in it. We put up to £50,000 into the build, our own team designs and develops it, and in return we take a stake and partner with you for the long term. You get a senior product team and the capital to launch, without needing either up front.
Founders with a clear idea and commitment, who are missing the money or the technical team to build it — not agencies looking for cheap work, and not finished companies who just need extra hands. If the only thing between you and a live product is capital and a team, this is aimed squarely at you.
How it works, step by step
1. You pitch the idea
You tell us what you're building, who it's for, and why now. No 40-page business plan required — a clear, honest picture of the problem and your plan to solve it is what we're reading for.
2. We assess the fit
We look at whether the idea is viable, whether we're the right team to build it, and whether we believe in it enough to put our own money and people behind it. We say no to most — not because they're bad ideas, but because this only works when we can genuinely commit.
3. We agree terms together
If it's a fit, we make an offer: how much we invest (up to £50,000), what stake we take, and how the partnership runs. Everything is transparent and agreed before a line of code is written.
4. We build and fund it
Our team designs and develops the product while our investment covers the cost — the same senior global team that works on our paid client projects. Typically we aim at a focused first version, the way we describe in from idea to MVP in 8 weeks, so we learn from real users fast.
5. We launch and grow, together
Because we're a partner rather than a supplier, we don't disappear at launch. We support the product, keep improving it, and are invested — literally — in it succeeding.
Why we do it this way
Two honest reasons. First, the best products often come from founders who understand a problem deeply but were never going to out-bid a funded competitor for agency time — backing them is how we get to work on genuinely exciting things. Second, our incentives line up with yours: when we hold a stake, "ship something that actually works and grows" isn't a nice-to-have, it's our return. That's a very different relationship to being paid by the hour.
What we look for in a pitch
- A real problem, described in plain terms, that people clearly have.
- A reason it's you — insight, unfair advantage, or sheer determination.
- A first version we can actually build and put in front of users, not a ten-year moonshot.
- A founder who'll stay in it — we're backing you as much as the idea.
If you're weighing this against paying for a build yourself, our guides to what a web app costs and choosing an agency are worth a read either way — they'll help you understand exactly what you'd otherwise be paying for.
Ready to pitch?
If capital and a technical team are the only things standing between your idea and a launched product, this is the route worth exploring. Tell us what you're building — we read every pitch, and we're genuinely looking for the next one to back.
